Hosted by Dave Anderson
Show Notes
Welcome to Tech Roast, your new weekly dose of satirical tech news, where we break down the biggest fails, absurdities, and WTF moments in the world of AI, gadgets, and innovation. If you’ve been following Tech Seeking Human, you’ll know that our deep-dive discussions uncover the why behind tech trends. But here? We don’t ask why—we just roast the hell out of it.
This week’s episode kicks off with a bang, taking aim at the 2024 Grammys, where AI-generated music may have just signaled the beginning of the end for human artistry. Beyoncé is officially a country artist now (according to the Recording Academy), The Beatles won a live performance award despite two of them being dead, and the AI wars between music labels and technology are only getting started. What’s next—AI-Taylor Swift beefing with real Taylor Swift?
What Else Is On the Chopping Block?
🛑 Tesla’s Autopilot is “Thinking for Itself” – If you thought self-driving was the future, Tesla’s latest software updates are proving that self-destructing might be more accurate. Some Teslas are stopping at green lights, others are taking sidewalks as suggested routes, and at least one decided that a body of water was a suitable road. It’s getting weird.
💀 Apple’s Vision Pro: A $3,500 Mistake? – Turns out, nobody saw this coming. Apple is quietly rethinking its Vision Pro rollout, probably because dropping a small fortune to look like a futuristic scuba diver isn’t as appealing as they thought. Maybe they should have just called it iGlasses and made it a throwback to Google’s biggest failure.
🚀 Elon Musk Is Up to… Something (Again) – While Tesla crashes (literally), Elon is reportedly reviewing federal financial accounts, sparking speculation that he’s trying to fund his next project—probably a self-sustaining Mars colony for billionaires or a hyperloop to his own ego.
🇦🇺 Australia’s Criminal Tracking Disaster – Australia outsourced the GPS tracking of bailed criminals to private companies… which, in a shocking twist, have links to organized crime. Because nothing screams good governance like putting criminals in charge of tracking criminals.
